Participation in the US–Korea International Geostationary Environmental Satellite Symposium in Hawaii.
From August 26 to 30, Novascope Inc. participated in the US–Korea International Geostationary Environmental Satellite Symposium held in Hawaii. Co-hosted by NASA, the symposium brought together over 200 experts from 80 institutions across more than 10 countries.
During the event, participants, including representatives from the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER), NASA, the European Space Agency, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), shared the latest research on environmental satellite technology and air quality monitoring, and discussed potential future collaborations. The symposium also served as an important platform to strengthen cooperation with NASA’s TEMPO geostationary environmental satellite, launched in 2023.
Presentations focused on topics such as joint air quality investigations in Asia, satellite data validation and improvement, and future environmental satellite development. Mr. Hanlim Lee, CEO of Novascope Inc., served as chair for “The Status of TEMPO (I)” session and presented on “Diurnal SO₂ Observations from Anthropogenic Sources in Asia Using GEMS and Comparisons with Low Earth Orbit Satellites.”
The symposium provided a valuable opportunity to expand the global network in environmental satellite technology and air quality monitoring, and to strengthen future international research collaborations.
